As owner of 3 String Cattle Company and President of Electric Power at Quanta Services, Karl brings the same philosophy to both endeavors: build things that are fundamentally designed to thrive in challenging environments.

Rupert Roots

Born and raised in Rupert, Idaho, Karl grew up understanding what it takes to make a living from the land. After graduating from Northwest Lineman College in Meridian, he began his career as a journeyman lineman, quickly earning responsibilities over crew safety, job efficiency, and client satisfaction. His leadership qualities were evident from day one – traits that would serve him throughout his career.

Karl Co-Founded Probst Electric as Vice President in 2007 and Co-Founded Summit Line Construction, building regional electrical contracting companies that specialized in complex utility projects across the western United States. When Quanta Services acquired these companies in 2013, Karl transitioned from entrepreneur to corporate leader, eventually rising to President of Electric Power – overseeing all electrical operations across the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Despite his executive responsibilities, Karl never left Rupert. He and his wife are raising their five children in his hometown, where he remains an active farmer and cattle rancher. For Karl, 3 String Cattle Company isn’t a hobby – it’s a continuation of his family’s multi-generational connection to the land and a commitment to Southern Idaho agriculture.
